But registering isn't the only thing that most people struggle with. Joining towns can be a bit hard. So that is why I came up with this new system, it will definately require some coding but it isn't too hard and should be possible.
Finding new residents for their town can be very frustrating for mayors. Some even fight over residents. The new members themselves find it hard to navigate through certain forums and join/ask for residentship in a town. My solution for this is to make commands like /jointown <town>. This would send a message to the mayor (whenever he or she comes on) saying that "player" wants to join your town. This way, the members can simply visit towns and send a request to join one (They can only send one request, requests can be cancelled by /canceltown or something else). This would not only make it easier for members to join towns but it would also make it easier for Mayors to get more residents. There could also be a command to leave the town (The mayor would receive a message).
Together with this I also want to suggest is a feature which is currently in essentials: Mail.
Mail is really useful when you want to send a message to someone but they aren't online. The command could be: /sendmail and /inbox. This is a small but useful feature.
The last thing I want to say/suggest is getting a new spawn. Yes I know, this one is pretty new. But it doesn't really give the "wow" factor. Newcomers come on and just see this boring village type of spawn. Nothing really exciting about it. And now there are tons of awesome builders (Lexxia, Bart and more).
In the new spawn there could also be portals to the towns. And info about a town (Kinda like a small Embassy of a town at spawn. This would make it easier for players to find the town (I remember when I joined i found it very hard to find the towns). Another important thing would be to keep things close to each other, the portals all together and stuff like that (Easier to navigate).
Nowadays people tend to enjoy things go fast and be efficient. They don't like complex things as it is a game, people play it to relax. More and more people realize this and don't like to go through tons of complex processes to simply join a server.
I will do my best to write the new tutorial. Notice that I am not making it so that the dumbest people will join the server. I will still test their knowledge and won't just tell them everything. We need members and if we want them we will need to change some stuff.
Heinz is currently also working on some sort of parkour plugin. There will be events and more. HPM will change a lot and have a lot of variety! This will definately help us get more players!
