I think the XP farms could effect the economy in two ways. One is if someone gets Fortune III on a pick-axe. That means tons of diamonds a lot faster. Even then, if you get silk touch, then harvest the block itself until you have fortune to break them. It will still put lots of diamonds out there.

The other is the fact that you can enchant diamond weapons and make a good amount of money off of them if people are willing to buy them.

In the end I don't think it is cheating. It is no different in my eyes then making an auto-wheat-farm. You can't actually flood a field in real life and get what you need, but it is possible in the game and many people see it alright. It is simply innovative and creative. I know there are no xp grinders in real life, but nor are there zombies and skeletons running around trying to kill you every time you step into the darkness.

In the end I see it as being creative to gain what you want faster. Just like the auto-wheat-farms and other farms like that nature. And all of them still have their downsides. After you flood a wheat farm you still have to go and plant the seeds. With an XP farm you are still likely to find an enchantment that won't be that useful to you, and you have to keep trying to get what you want.

In the end I am completely okay with it myself. It's not really cheating because you are not exploiting any glitches in the game or hacking. You are simply being innovative.

It would also be good to keep people from feeling the need to be secretive. There are plenty around, and that is a know fact to about everyone in the game. I vote yes to it being an acceptable form of resource gathering.

Heinz says its cheating, Sismut and Noctifer said it was ok! I have one under my house then Henmistro found and I would be happy to make it the town XP Grinder. But I could convert it into a mob arena too. I just don't want to be cheating.

Its controvertial and it is NOT SPECIFIED whether it is legal or not. So it is currently fine and i made a mob arena instead .
