Traps?

Hello, i wanted to ask if its ok building a small trap for ppl (just for fun) away from spawn and placing "Leave or die" sign next to it? Or are the traps totally against rules? I just want to try out things that i couldnt do in singleplayer. It is not intended to kill unaware players.
