Nether Portals

Well i guess this is kinda random for it to come out at this point of time but... it just came to my mind. Well days ago (maybe week or so idk) i went through a nether portal built by bishamon1 (other nether portals around too) and found myself in the nether. The last time i remembered nether portals never work except for the warpgate in the gate room, or has it changed already just writing this to clarify some doubts. (also i am bored :/)

That was disabled with an old plugin..
I think we can keep the setting like it is right now.

Heinz, I have an idea! We all have warpgates and minecarts to travel through towns, but what if we used the nether to replace that? 1 block traveled in the nether = 8 blocks in the normal world, so the nether would make fast legit travel. See it this way : you can travel across the whole HPcraft map in the nether by only travelling 625 blocks in the nether. And we could also make minecarts in the nether. All of this would have to be in a protected zone of course.
Once again, this is only a suggestion, so please guys don't throw a tantrum because you don't like the idea.
