Well maybe a /ignore <person name> command to stop you from seeing any of this person's messages,
/ignore all command to stop you from seeing anybody's messages
/ignore irc to stop you from seeing the irc chat
and /ignore l to stop you from seeing local chat

I have a feeling a lot of people would be doing /ignore irc when im on XD

/ignore all command to stop you from seeing anybody's messages -> F1
/ignore irc to stop you from seeing the irc chat -> /leave irc
and /ignore l to stop you from seeing local chat -> /leave local
For muting specific person, we can put it on TODO list
