Just an idea many people had I bet, I'm just putting it out.

The idea would be that people could loan money from the server (with interest of course)
There would be limits on loans in accordance with a person's rank.

As an example :
Guest : 40 pxlz
Member : 200 pxlz
trusted : 500 pxlz
Vice mayor : 600 pxlz
Mayor : 3000 pxlz
Lord : 5000 pxlz
king : N/A (unused?)
Emperor : N/A (Maybe as much as lord since they don't have to pay for towns other than their own?)

Just to get an idea. The interest rate could be something like 10% or so, and a percentage of the loan would automatically be removed from the account every day (depending on the size of the loan). If a person is unable to pay off the loan, their money will go below 0 and they will not be able to interact with any thing in all of hpcraft, except the mining world, so they can pay off their debt. In the case of guests they could be frozen for a few days maybe? Also you will not be able to take out any loans if you didn't pay yours off (obviously)

All this could be used with the /loan command, which could be the following :

/loan (gives available commands)
/loan <amount> (to take out a loan)
/loan info (gives max amount, current debt, percentage removed from their account per day, current balance)


To those who wonder why i make long posts like these, it's because it's a favor for those would could make the plugin, if they want to make it then they have something to inspire themselves with, rather than having to completely come up with it, and it also allows you to reply with your own preferences.

I can just see plenty of people going bankrupted with this ;P

People don't exactly get a solid source of income so it may be hard for people to pay off their loans. Maybe a fixed amount of money to pay off would be a better idea... It would certainly prevent allot of people becoming bankrupted!

So? Isn't this an RPG server? In which case this could work. I just thought that would be possible consequences, but there are obvious much better ways of dealing with it, that's just all that came to me at the time. Money could just go below 0 and they would just not be able to buy anything until they raised their money back over 0 and cannot take out further loans until so.

Well that's why it's deducted little by little. And say they pay 10% of their loan every day, a member would only have to find 1 gold ingot a day to cover it, and a trusted member would need 2.

The reason for this is mostly because soon enough towns will cost money for the mayors, and thus for the residents as well. And, as an example, if it costs money to get a home area but you can't afford it at the time, you can take out a loan to get your home area then go mining or whatever to pay of the loan.

A mayors and residents cannot always simply "borrow money" from a friend, what if that friend doesn't have enough himself? This will cover him and allow him to make up for the money later on.

The only thing I have a problem with is finding an adequate way to deal with people who don't pay their loans. It has to be strict enough so people don't get an advantage by not paying their loans but lenient so that people don't leave the server because of the consequence. Maybe some sort of collection agency? I don't know.

I don't understand why anyone should need a loan. Btw, I foresee that people who are going to use this system by letting guests take loans to buy their goods for absurd prices. The guests don't know our economy, so many will take the bait. They take loans, some evil members take their money, and the guests leave the server because theyre bankrupt and can only dig in the mining world. I'm afraid this is what's going to happen...

I have better idea of paying debts than people being frustrated and forced to work...
I have seen it in one game and i liked the idea very much:
1)You can take a loan only when you dont owe single pxl
2)Loans can be without interests or with very small interest
3)From the time you take loan, every day half of your current balance will be taken to pay the loan, also half of every incoming payment
4)As soon as your debt will be paid fully, you are free to take another loan.
