Mvd, the .exe is only for the launcher , .jar is for java files.

ok guys i havr changed my minecraft.jar to the folder to the 1.5 minecraft.jar folder but every time i log in it just frezes. the only way to get in to mc it by forcing a update but thats no use to me as that will only create a clean 1.4.7. can some 1 help plz

try to rename the jar file to "minecraft" before starting the game

Make a new user.

If this is about a mod, and when you start your game there is just a black screen, then open the minecraft.jar in the same way you installed the mod, and delete a folder called META-INF.
If you don't have any mods, forget this step.
