What's Up With the Server?
So, I've noticed the server been empty as hells for quite a while now, what does that mean for it's survival?

I have no clue, it's a wasteland. I thought adding minigames and advertising a bit could give the server a new life imo
Just read the next post, not my sig

Re: What's Up With the Server?
I think we already tried minigames, not sure about advertising.
Keep in mind it is still summer time so people are outside doing other stuff.
But my personnal opinion is also that the map became kinda boring when there are so many other new features that came up (or soon to come) in the world generation.
And new terrain is always entertaining to play in.
But again, this is my own opinion

Re: What's Up With the Server?
We shouldn't expand towards other gamemodes. Expand the survival experience of the players with new survival stuff.
What stuff yupie?
Well, that's something the owner should think about :p
Tryzzo, it's summer and indeed a lot of people are outside, but it's vacation so there should be more people on the server than normally

Re: What's Up With the Server?
I still check on the board like once every 3 months or so for nostalgia reasons, and well, this server really just died out and I doubt it'll ever be revived. It just got really old, there's nothing wrong with it, it's only that it never had many long-lasting players and it's fully established but unoccupied, so it alienates new players. It's also a style of play that is kind of outdated. People like servers with advanced plugins and fully fledged out games and such, normal minecraft has just become a little mundane.
Now with the open LAN world option and hamachi, people can play with their friends without even having to know how to set up a server. And this type of play is something a few friends like to cooperate on with full freedom, and now that it's so easy there's no incentive to play here anymore. The thing is though, it's not like Heinz makes money out of having players, so nobody can blame him for not using up his personal time on minecraft instead of focusing on his life's priorities. People have moved on. One day HPcraft is going to have to close down, I wouldn't imagine this server lasting many more years. It costs bandwidth, electricity, computer resources, maintenance and domain names.

I agree with dodo. The server has been fun but I believe it is a bit of a waste to still keep it running.

Re: What's Up With the Server?
Well, once i said i will never stop that server.
As long as there are some players having fun on it, i will not shut it down.
Its not a dedicated minecraft server. Im running other stuff on that box.
Im glad to see that there are still people out there who sign up or log in.
